Monet’s gardens at Giverny inspired so much of the famed impressionist’s work. Yet at 4 miles (6 kilometers) from the nearest train station, they can be fiddly to reach by public transportation. Pair the convenience of a prebooked ticket with the ease of coach transfers to and from a central Paris meeting point on this organized package. Enjoy time to explore independently and recreate the paintings in your photos.

An elegant house and a beautiful garden. We liked it very much despite rain, the staff was very friendly

My wife and I were in Giverney 3 years ago, and were pretty much the only people there... truly glorious. This time there were just too many people. We were with 4 people who had never been before, and the crowds meant that they couldn't experience the house. I understand why Europe is experiencing tourist fatigue. Can't tour companies limit the number of tourists?
Response from Host, Jun 2025
Dear Paul, Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We truly understand how special your first visit to Giverny must have been, and we’re sorry to hear that this time the crowds made it difficult for your group to fully enjoy the house. Giverny has become an increasingly popular destination in recent years, and while we’re glad so many people want to experience its beauty, we completely understand the frustration when the serenity of the site is impacted by large numbers of visitors. Unfortunately, as tour operators, we are subject to the capacity limits and scheduling policies set by the site itself, and we’re unable to control or reduce overall visitor numbers. That said, we’re constantly looking for ways to improve the timing and structure of our visits to make the experience as enjoyable as possible—especially for those seeing it for the first time. We truly value your feedback and will continue advocating for more sustainable tourism practices that benefit both travelers and local communities. Warm regards,

We traveled in June. It is very crowded in June. Perhaps other times of the year are better as far as being less crowded and able to enjoy the attraction. The tour we booked only provided about 90 minutes to explore the gardens, house and gift shop. It felt quite hurried. The time we spent in the gardens was amazing, so many flowers in bloom, such a beautiful variety. As for the house, Monet was such a prolific painter and there is quite a bit of his work on display. Of course, these are all reproductions as the originals are primarily in private collections or museums. The departure was punctual and the coach was a double decker, comfortable and plenty of room. The return trip found the coach extremely hot when we boarded at Giverny and took almost the entire two hours back to Paris to cool down. That was a bit disappointing. The guide kept us well informed prior to arrival in Giverny and offered good advice as to navigating the attraction. It was just very crowded and we spent almost the entire 90 minutes in a queue to see various aspects of the property. Might recommend staying in Giverny in order to spend more time on the property. Those early entires and being last to leave may offer more quality time on site.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful and detailed review. We’re delighted to hear you enjoyed the beauty of Monet’s gardens and appreciated the guidance provided during the tour. We understand that the limited time and crowding in peak season can affect the overall experience, and we truly value your suggestions. Your comments will help us refine the logistics and better inform future travelers. Best Regards

There is not enough time to see the house and all the gardens with late departure. We departed about 20 minutes late which left even less time on an already cramped schedule. It also meant that other tour groups arrived ahead of us. Plus, the bus is several blocks away from the departure location listed which further delayed our trip. Overall the gardens made it worth it but we are planning on using alternate transportation in the future.

Dear Hannah, Thank you for your honest feedback. We’re sorry the late departure and distance to the bus affected your time at the house and gardens. We want to mention that we changed the departure point a few days before your tour and made sure to contact all our clients about this change. We’re sorry if our message didn’t reach you in time. We understand how important it is to have enough time to fully enjoy the visit, and we regret that the schedule felt too tight. We appreciate your kind words about the gardens being a highlight and your suggestions will help us improve the experience. We hope you find the perfect way to explore next time! Best regards,
After about a 1h30 min trip through the verdant countryside, you will arrive in Giverny.
Expect a feast for your eyes on this half-day tour to Claude Monet’s home in Giverny. You’ll alight at Monet’s property and extensive gardens, where he indulged in his green-fingered passion.
First, you’ll visit the front gardens and orchards with your expert guide, to gaze upon an array of vivid blooms (depending on the season). Next, you’ll be enthralled to see the legendary water lily pond in real life and cross the oft-painted Japanese bridge.
Don’t forget to take a few pics, be the star of your own Impressionist-style landscapes! Take a while to enjoy the tranquility of the weeping willows and bamboo trees.
Time to drive back through the landscape of the Eure French Region.
You will be dropped back at the departure point.
