Overview

This isn’t your typical wine tour, you can find those with plenty of other companies.

Instead, this experience offers behind-the-scenes access to the world’s oldest working port wine cellar (we have the key to the vintage room!), paired with generous tastings of iconic Portuguese dishes like Francesinha as you explore Porto’s renowned wine district, Vila Nova de Gaia.

Along the way, enjoy an exclusive port wine tasting. And because that’s just the start, savor local wines and beers thoughtfully paired with each stop.

You’ll venture into hidden food spots and authentic neighborhood restaurants, meeting passionate local owners whose dedication shines through in every bite.

We had an excellent experience with Leo. She spent most of the day with us and got to know us well. The food was delicious and we really got a great feel for the city. Would highly recommend this tour!!

Fantastic Food Tour with a Guide Who Truly Loves His City

CHRIS F, Apr 2026

My wife and I joined a walking food tour in Porto with Diogo, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. He’s personable, engaging, and incredibly knowledgeable about his city, its food traditions, and of course, port wine. He took us to places we never would have found on our own, each with its own story and character, and beyond the food and history, we genuinely enjoyed Diogo as a person — the tour felt less like a scripted experience and more like spending time with a local friend. We recommend him without hesitation; if you’re considering this tour, go for it.

Great afternoon

We had a phenomenal experience with Diago as our guide. He treated us to some hidden spots providing an authentic Portuguese experience. The tour of Real Compaea Velha was spectacular. We got to try four kinds of port. The tawny is my favorite. So many thanks for a great afternoon.

Itinerary

  • Jardim Do Morro

Start the tour at Jardim do Morro in Vila Nova de Gaia, a scenic hilltop park offering sweeping views of Porto and the Douro River. Perfect for photos, its green terraces and relaxed atmosphere make it a favorite lookout over the city’s iconic skyline.

  • Start your morning with a traditional local pastry called the Bishop, a puff pastry base covered with sweet egg cream and shredded coconut, paired with a rich espresso. A delightful combo of sweet and bold flavors that captures the essence of Porto’s breakfast culture.

    30 minutes
  • We have the key to the vintage room at Real Companhia Velha, the oldest Portuguese-owned port wine company in existence. We'll unlock it together to enjoy a curated tasting of four port wines: white, rosé, ruby, and tawny. Discover the rich flavors and history of Portugal’s most famous fortified wine in an iconic, centuries-old cellar.

    1 hour
  • At Mercearia do Bernardino, savor traditional Portuguese flavors with a codfish fritter, rich tomato rice, and a glass of crisp white wine. A cozy spot offering a genuine taste of local culinary traditions.

    30 minutes
  • Dive into Porto’s iconic comfort food with a Francesinha tasting, Porto’s legendary sandwich layered with cured meats, steak, and melted cheese, all smothered in a rich, tomato‑beer sauce. Pair it with a Super Bock beer for a truly local, indulgent experience.

    30 minutes
  • Vila Nova de Gaia

Pass by the vibrant Bordalo II street art, where the artist transforms trash and recycled materials into colorful, larger-than-life animal sculptures. A striking and playful display blending creativity with environmental awareness.
