Amazing! It was very engaging and the guide was theatrical which kept our children entertained throughout. Very informative and interesting.

Went as a family to learn more about the Romans in Chester. We all loved this walking tour. All ages were catered for, and the length of the tour was great to keep the youngest entertained. Lucius was brilliant, very engaging and informative!

I was led to believe the Roman walk of Chester was suitable to children. The roman soldier leading the tour knew his subject but the delivery was poor. It was difficult to follow for anyone who had very little knowledge of a Roman fort or society. The children who were between 4-13 were not addressed.

Good afternoon Isabella, Sorry to hear that the tour didn’t meet your expectations, seeing as other families who took the same tour left 5 star reviews for the same guide. As I’m sure you can understand it is very hard to meet the expectations of everyone on a tour, especially with the group size being the numbers it was on the day, with so many different ages and different levels of interest in history. Unfortunately, it’s not easy to meet all expectations and we believe our guides do incredibly well with this challenge. We also do publicly state that the tour isn’t suitable for young children below the age of 5 years old on our website. If you have any further questions or queries please drop us an email and we will be more than happy to help!

A very pleasant informative and enthusiastic guide who showed us some genuine Roman treasures. Also a surprise find in the basement of a modern popular cafe.
Britain's biggest amphitheater to explore the lives of those that fought and died here. Based on archaeological evidence and remains.
Built on the foundations of the walls of Britains biggest roman fortress. Some sections of orignal Roman walls still exist to over 5 meters in height
Reconstructed example of a roman hypocaust system using original pila stones and reconstructions or mosaic floor found during excavations of the roman military baths. Explanation of these items how they worked and why they have been relocated here
