We have a very friendly and informative tour of Valletta. Ernesto, our guide was welcoming and a Malta enthusiast. We met at 9:30 by the ugliest modern government building - the New Parliament Building “opposite the Burger King”. No techie words, eg brutalist or contemporary can disguise a modern abomination that should have stayed on the drawing board. We were introduced to various Maltese delicacies which disappointed, with a few notable exceptions. It would have been better to understand their heritage than to try many of them. It was no surprise that the local cola hasn’t gone “viral”. Nearly three hours passed quickly and the pea based patisserie, the rabbit stew and the fresh sheep’s cheese were the gastronomic high lights for me. Ernesto was an erudite enthusiast for Valletta who introduced us to Malta and set us up for a week of better informed tourism.

This tour, led by Nadine, gave a very comprehensive and entertaining view of Maltese history and culture as well as a tasting experience. It was well worth the money and we came away feeling very well fed. No lunch was needed. Nadine additionally helped us with taxi arrangements and was a brilliant guide.

Our guide John is a local and shared lots of interesting information in a friendly manner. Wish we’d done the tour at the beginning of the week so we could have revisited more places he talked about. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and drinks. Especially the Maltese coffee and the Cinnamon biscuits. Sadly the weather was rainy so we apparently didn’t fit in as much us usual. But we didn’t feel we missed out at all.

We really enjoyed this tour led by John. Lots of history and culture mixed in with the Maltese food we tried. Even though it was cool and windy with some showers, the pace was good with undercover stops along the way. We loved being able to try the Kinnie and the rabbit, things we might not have ordered on our own. Bravo! Definitely recommend. Anne and Peter New Brunswick Canada
