Built in the 13th Century, the Hofburg Castle was originally a Medieval fortress and expanded over the centuries to become the beautiful castle we know today: a symbol of the Austrian culture and royalty. The most recent part of the Palace was added at the beginning of the 20th century, and the only remaining part dating back to the Medieval Times is the Chapel or Burgkapelle.
