I hoped to get a detailed perspective on Picasso and the cultural life of Spain in the time of the Spanish civil war and the years leading to it Our tour guide, Hernan, was more professor/lecturer than guide. I liked that. It was a bit challenging mentally. I also liked the resources provided for additional study. It was more than a look at art that I wanted to see but a study of that art.

We visited the Prado in September and had a private tour with Irina. She was perfect and knew her artists and works in the museum. We asked her to focus on Velasquez and Goya and what a great tours it was. She spoke in clear English with stories to tell about each work. Such a beautiful museum. We travel as two couples who prefer not to ne in large group tours. We can get our questions answered, dont have to wait for others and can lengthen or shorten our time as needed. We will always do private tours and Irina was a wealth of information. This is how to get the most out of your precious time on vacation. She is fabulous!

Our guide for the Tour (Hernan) was terrific. He was a History Professor with such great insight on the background of what we were experiencing. He knew why and what motivated Picasso to create Guernica and was able to present it with passion and meaning. It's sad and tragic but we loved it. Better than I expected.
