This unforgettable journey starts with a visit to San Gimignano, a world-famous walled town located on a hilltop that has remained intact throughout the centuries, renowned for its tall towers, wonderful frescoes and many other valuable works of art. Here your guide will take you to the historical center where you will have around two hours of free time for fascinating discoveries.Just a short distance from San Gimignano, don't miss the hamlet of Monteriggioni, a charming medieval village enclosed by its walls, which remain standing to this day. From Monteriggioni, crossing gently rolling hills, a short ride will take you to a cozy winery, where you can relax and enjoy the fantastic world of Chianti with its wine and typical products: taste three fine wines and balsamic vinegar and enjoy a 3-course lunch made of local products followed by 'cantucci e vin santo'.Later on, in Siena, your local guide will lead you on a comprehensive guided tour of the historic center (if selected), starting from the famous Basilica of San Domenico, a jewel of Renaissance art built in the 13th century and dedicated to St. Catherine of Siena. Strolling along the narrow medieval streets of the city, lined with beautiful palaces and historic shops, passing through Piazza del Campo where you can see the Palazzo Pubblico (town hall), you will finally admire the spectacular 12th-century Siena Cathedral, its magnificent architecture and the splendor of the polychrome marbles of the facade.Choose the option that includes a guided tour of the famous Cathedral of Siena to discover the beauty of its treasures and works of art: the floor decorated with mosaics (during the uncovering period), Donatello's St. John the Baptist, the rose window by Duccio di Buoninsegna, the marble pulpit by Nicola Pisano and the Piccolomini Library which kept a rich collection of manuscripts. You will also have some free time to end your perfect day enjoying the unique atmosphere of this amazing city, before your return to Florence in the evening.
