Our guide was brilliant giving us not only a historical account of the castles but information about towns and thing that we passed on the car journey there.

Stefan took our family (8 adults) on a trip the day after Christmas. Our travel plans changed due to Covid and he was very helpful with scheduling and what we needed to do to meet Germany’s Covid precautions. He was very knowledgeable and funny! We had a great time and would definitely book with him again!

In the summer months, the oldest steam tram in the world runs between the train station and the port!
Herrenchiemsee Palace is an almost exact replica of Versailles, the residence of the French king Louis XIV. who was very venerated by Ludwig. During the 35-minute guided tour through the interiors, with all the lavish splendour, you will hardly be able to imagine that the king lived here on only 10 days - and on top of that completely alone! (Prices 2023 Herrenchiemsee palace: Adults € 11.00 / Children under 18 years are free!) ... It takes 20 minutes to walk from the pier to the palace, or enjoy optional a horse-drawn carriage ride. Your ticket also includes admission to the most interesting Ludwig II Museum and the "Old Palace", where you can admire, among other things, magnificent baroque rooms of the former monastery. Visit also the kitchen, where the dishes were prepared for the king.
After less than an hours drive we'll reach the charming Spa Town Bad Tölz, at Isar river. Once it provided Munich with lumber and beer. Look forward to the further journey in our luxurious minivan through the magnificent Bavarian foothills of the Alps until we reach Hohenschwangau, the village of the royal castles, after another 75 minutes drive!

Neuschwanstein was dedicated to Ludwig's favorite composer Richard Wagner; the neo-Romanesque façade is deceptive that the progress made enthusiastic king build it as a high-tech castle.

Queen Mary's bridge ("Marienbrücke") - THE TOP VIEWPOINT - built in 1866 by King Ludwig II - one of the most famous in the world! It can be easily reached by a shuttle bus (€ 4.00 p.p.) from the parking lot or on a nice 40-minute uphill hike. From the bridge you'll reach the castle entrance within a 20-minute walk downhill and pass one more magnificent viewpoint! PLEASE NOTE: Due to their popularity, there may be waiting times for both the shuttle bus and access to the bridge! But not far away we can show you another spectacular viewpoint without waiting. In snow and ice, the bridge is not accessible and Neuschwanstein Castle can only be reached on foot or by horse-drawn hybrid carriage.
Another unforgetable stop will be at one of the overwhelming baroque churches, e.g. the Stiftkirche Rottenbuch, where your guide will provide you with all the worth knowing information about this masterpiece from the 11th and 18th centuries.
A little later we reach the impressive Lake Starnberg, also known as the “Dukes lake”. Magnificent villas stretch along the lakeshore, including the summer residences of Sissi, the pretty but unfortunate Empress of Austria. See the spot in the lake where King Ludwig II mysteriously died on June 13, 1886. Learn about the strange relationship between Ludwig and Sissi, and why he didn't want to marry Sissis younger sister. The only island of the lake ("Roseninsel") which was in royal possession, too, was the meeting place of Ludwig and Sissi several times...
