What a fantastic trip! We learnt so much from our wonderful guide, Ahmed. He was so knowledgeable about all things Egyptian & explained lots about Ancient Egypt. We first visited Coptic Cairo & saw inside several beautiful churches. We then drove through Garbage City (thank goodness for our excellent driver as it was a tight squeeze in places!) & on to the magical Cave Church. What a tremendous place, definitely worth a visit. We had a great experience & would thoroughly recommend awesome Ahmed!

Old Cairo or Coptic Cairo is a part of Old Cairo which encompasses the Babylon Fortress , the Hanging church , the Greek church of St.George and many other Coptic churches and historical sites . it is believed in Christian tradition that the holy family visited this area and stayed at the sites of saints Sergius and Bacchus church ( Abu Serga ). Coptic Cairo was Stronghold for Christianity in Egypt until the Islamic era ,though most of the current buildings of the churches in Coptic Cairo were built after the Muslim conquest of Egypt in the 7th century
the tour will include the highlight of the area

Cave church the local Coptic Church in Mokattam Village was established in 1975. After the establishment of the church , the Zabbaleen felt more secure in their location and only then began to use more permanent building materials , such as stone and bricks , for their homes . Given their previous experience of eviction from Giza in 1970 , the Zabbaleen had lived in temporary tin huts up till that point . In 1976 , a large fire broke out Manshiyet Nasir , which led to the beginning of the construction of the first church below the Mokkatam mountain on a site of 1.000 square meters . more churches have been built into caves found in Mokkatam . Currently , there are seven cave churches hidden among the caves of Mokattam Mountain . The monastery of St Simon the Tanner is the largest and it has an amphitheater with seating capacity 20.000 . this church is the largest church in the Middle East .
After finishing you will back to your start point .
